KUALA LUMPUR – This coming August, leading Thai brands will take centre stage at the aptly named “Top Thai Brands 2018” event. The four-day extravaganza will feature the most fascinating Thai products and services, alongside an interesting mix of activities.
Themed “Open Up New Business Opportunity with Thai Creativity”, the event shines the spotlight on Thai ingenuity and entrepreneurship. Organised by the Thai Ministry of Commerce’s Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP), it offers a platform for Malaysian entrepreneurs to explore new business opportunities and partnerships with Thai companies. Additionally, it aims to provide assistance to Malaysian importers and distributors in promoting Thai products and strengthening their market positioning.
Top Thai Brands 2018 is a great launchpad to introduce new and innovative Thai products with the highest quality standards as well as established brands to the Malaysian market. Expanding the trade volume between Malaysia and Thailand is another key objective as both governments are committed to achieving the goal of USD30 billion, the result of a Joint Trade Committee (JTC) meeting in 2015.
H.E. Narong Sasitorn, Ambassador of Thailand to Malaysia emphasized, “Business relationship features prominently in the long and cordial tie between our two countries and the Top Thai Brands 2018 event will further provide a friendly platform for entrepreneurs from both sides to explore new business opportunities and potential partnerships. The idea is not only to introduce our Malaysian friends to leading Thai brands, but also to inspire them with refreshing insight into the creative pulse that brought these brands to life.”
This year’s event is seeing unprecedented growth with a total of 100 exhibitors expected to showcase their offerings, a significant increase from 20 exhibitors in 2016 and 30 exhibitors in 2017. The organisers anticipate more than 5,000 visitors to attend.
Exhibitors represent a wide range of sectors, including Halal F&B, spa, beauty and wellness, packaging and machines, household products and home decor, fashion and accessories, kids’ clothing and toys, pet products and much more. Top Thai Brands 2018 is a must-visit for traders, importers, distributors, wholesalers, retailers, and sale representative or agents who are seeking new innovative products. It will also benefit those involved in food and hospitality services such as catering businesses, restaurants and hotels (HORECA), as well as café and shop owners.
Among the event highlights is the free business matching service powered by the Malaysia Global Business Forum and Thaitrade.com. Overall, the event is projected to generate at least 500 business-matching connections.
Also not to be missed is the “Leveraging Trade and Investment Opportunity with Thailand” seminar on 10 August 2018, supported by the Royal Thai Embassy. The forum will provide insights to the Malaysian business community on how to capture business opportunity by harnessing Thailand’s strengths in product and service creativity, favourable investment incentives as well as financial tools that can facilitate business transactions between Thailand and Malaysia. Speakers include representatives from Bangkok Bank Berhad, and business success stories such as Boat Noodles, Thai Odyssey, Tan Chong Group, Karex and Board of Investment of Thailand.
“Top Thai Brands 2018 is one event that will truly resonate with the five senses as it boasts a most diverse selection of exhibitors and offerings. There’s something for everyone, from business matching services and seminars to complimentary Thai massages, cultural performances and live cooking demonstrations. Interest in the event has been rising steadily, and we are confident of achieving our goals of 5,000 visitors and 500 business matches,” said Ms Patcha Wutipan, Minister Counsellor (Commercial).
Non-trade visitors will be treated to daily cultural shows performed by the KidBuakSipp dance group, specially brought in from Thailand by the Tourism Authority of Thailand. Other goodies include a free Thai massage (sponsored by Thai Odyssey, in collaboration with the Thai Labour Office in KL), lucky draw for return tickets to Samui Island (sponsored by Bangkok Airways) and on-stage live cooking demonstrations. They’ll also get to participate in a Meet and Greet session with Thai celebrities, an incredible programme line-up supported by the Malaysian Video On Demand Service, dimsum, GMM Grammy, Artop Media (Thailand) and Thai Airways International.
Swee Kim, dimsum Chief Marketing Officer in Malaysia said, “Top Thai Brands 2018 presents an excellent opportunity for dimsum to promote and expand our collaborative ties with partners in Thailand such as Artop Media and GMM Grammy. We will continue to bring in the Best Thai content on dimsum through our MOU signing with Artop as well as offer some of the best content from GMM Grammy. As part of the strategic plans, we will also be bringing more popular Thai artists to meet with their fans in Malaysia through Artop Media, which will begin with the “My Dear Loser Series: Monster Romance” star tour in August.”
Open to both trade visitors and the general public, Top Thai Brands 2018 will be held from 9 to 12 August 2018 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre – Hall 5. Opening hours are from 10 am to 6 pm daily. Best of all, admission is FREE!
