On 1 March 2019, Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad officially launched the National Home Ownership Campaign 2019 (HOC 2019) which is being held from Jan 1 to June 30, 2019. The idea behind the HOC is to increase home ownership among Malaysians and to address the property overhang which has hit 43,211 units amounting to a value of RM29 million as of the third quarter of 2018.
Back in November last year, Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng during the tabling of Budget 2019 announced the HOC initiative will kick off in 2019. Initiating this, REHDA together with the Housing and Local Government Ministry (KPKT) successfully organised a national-level property expo from March 1 – 3 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.
Every year, MAPEX sees an overwhelming response of visitors (home-buyers) looking for the best deals in town.
More than 180 booths were fully taken up by 51 private developers offering more than 17,000 units of homes with a total value of more than RM11.8 billion (these figured were derived from only 26 out of the 51 participating developers). The HOC – MAPEX event also featured a government pavilion showcasing affordable housing projects and schemes under Perbadanan PR1MA Malaysia, Syarikat Perumahan Negara Bhd, Permodalan Nasional Bhd and UDA Holdings Bhd.
Now, a little over a month later, REHDA will bring Malaysian’s the second wave to this exclusive initiative – MAPEX 2019 from April 26 – 28 at the Mid Valley Convention Centre (MVCC).
During the press conference that was held on April 16 at Wisma REHDA Kelana Jaya, it was announced that REHDA will continue to support the Government’s HOC 2019 initiative by organizing HOC – MAPEX April 2019, a property expo that not only continues the Association’s tradition of providing a non-stop centre for purchasers to find their dream home.

At the time of the press conference, MAPEX Organising Chairman, Datuk Ng Seing Liong said that 72 private developers will be showcasing their properties located all over the Klang
Valley, Johor, Negeri Sembilan, Kelantan, Perak as well as Penang.
“The expo has also garnered the interest of seven financial institutions including Maybank (MAPEX’s strategic financial partner), CIMB Bank, Hong Leong Bank, Hong Leong Investment Bank, Public Bank, RHB Bank as well as United Overseas Bank”, noted Datuk Ng.
Datuk Ng also mentioned that he would like to see more involvement by other financial institutions to support MAPEX’s endeavours going forward.
The opening ceremony of HOC- MAPEX April 2019 will be held tomorrow (26 April) at 3pm at the Mid Valley Exhibition Centre (MVEC) and REHDA is proud to have the Minister of Finance, Yang Berhormat Tn Lim Guan Eng to officiate the ceremony.
YB Tn Lim’s involvement in this expo clearly shows that he is walking the Government’s talk to ensure the sustainability of the housing sector, and their willingness to continue working with the private sector such as REHDA towards achieving the same goal for the benefit of the rakyat.

Aside from the traditional cash rebates that is normally a sought-after highlight during MAPEX, this HOC – MAPEX April 2019 will also feature voucher giveaways, activities for kids such as face-painting, a colouring station and free popcorn and cotton candy. Learned property personalities will also be taking stage with property talk sessions throughout the three-day event, making it a fun filled weekend outing for the entire family.
