England have won by 75 runs in the Kinara Oval in Malaysia, In the first ODI in the series against Pakistan. Pakistan were chasing a big target of two hundred and eighty-five for victory after England’s opening partnership combined for 188 runs. Before Danielle Wyatt was caught and bowled Pakistan’s captain Bismah Maroof following on from her exhilarating innings which included a century in 85 balls

This did not halt the damage as Tamsin Beaumont went on to make 107 before playing a mistimed reverse sweep. This put an end to a 60-run partnership with England’s captain Heather Knight. The only disappointment for England was there middle order was exposed by Pakistan bowlers with Sciver, Wilson and Jones only combing for only 17 runs.

A shining light was Rameen Shamim capturing three major wickets on her ODI debut for Pakistan. Especially the wicket of Beaumont, which stopped England’s momentum of running away with the contest.

England still set a total of 285 for Pakistan to chase. Unfortunately, two early wickets derailed Pakistan’s chances of a unprecedented Women’s ODI win. Pakistan’s captain Bismah Maroof did her best to steer her team ship to success with a resilient 69.

However, her only demise was a lack of meaningful partnerships with Riaz 39, Sohail 29 and Dar 18. Pakistan were gallant in defeat, a demolish job of the bottom order by Kate Cross, along with the wicket of Maroof really took the wind out of the sails of Pakistan hopes to chase down England’s total.

The day was a high note for debutant Sarah Glenn with the final wicket adding to her wicket of wicket keeper Nawaz. This leaves England sailing into the 2nd game, on Thursday motivated to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the ODI Series against Pakistan.
