20 members of the Malaysian Institute of Professional Centre (BIM) participated in the Strategic Planning Workshop 2025-2030. This initiative aims to strengthen BIM’s mission and enhance professional standards in Malaysia. During the workshop, BIM also revised its vision and role as a globally recognised Centre of Professional Excellence, with the goal of serving a progressive and sustainable society.

The rebranding of BIM is a crucial step to ensure its relevance to the current needs of the professional industry. The workshop also discussed the need to establish a National Professional Blueprint for 2025-2030, aimed at ensuring consistent professional standards, aligning with global industries, supporting human capital development, economic growth, and sustainability, as well as providing a framework for innovation and digital transformation.

This workshop aligns with the statement from Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof regarding the engineer-to-population ratio in Malaysia, currently at 1:170, which is still significantly behind the 1:100 ratio in developed countries. Reports indicate that 35 per cent of young engineers in Malaysia earn less than MYR2,000 per month. In-depth discussions with professional bodies within BIM suggest that the salaries of all professionals should be reviewed and realigned to improve service quality and cultivate a more efficient and progressive Madani society.
