The Malaysia Global Business Forum is proud to support the development of Rugby in Malaysia and invites those corporate who feel the same way to join the following event.

Corporate leaders appreciate that to succeed in life, pre requisites are discipline, dedication and  effective membership of a team. These are the same criteria for success in rugby.

COBRA Rugby Club was established in 1967 and remains one of the key building blocks for rugby in Malaysia. We have produced many national players and Malaysia’s first professional player now based in Japan.

For five decades now, COBRA Rugby Club has been playing a leading role in utilising rugby as a vehicle for inculcating good values and developing youth as useful members of society. Initially our programmes and activities were centred around school leavers and working adults.

Over the last two decades COBRA has expanded its programmes to include primary school children and even pre school kids. We now run programmes at four levels:

  1. Pre School – COBRATS. This programme is also open to the younger group of school children
  2. Schools – Schools Rugby Development Programme
  3. Post SPM – COBRA Academy
  4. Blacks/Stingers – Competitive teams

COBRAs junior rugby development program has already seen thousands of children benefit from engagement with qualified coaches, weekly practices and participation in national level tournaments.

Many of our kids who otherwise would not have had the opportunity have secured places in top institutions such as The Royal Military College, Victoria Institution, KGV Seremban, SDAR Ipoh, to name a few. Many have also been accepted into Institutions of higher learning. In these cases apart from meeting academic criteria their track record with COBRA was a key factor. COBRA has direct access to these institutions in terms of nominating suitable students.

The COBRATS programme which was first introduced in the nineties was suspended for a while due to limited resources. However in 2013 the programme was revived. This progamme has now grown into one participated by hundreds of children ranging from 3 years of age to 16 years of age. We also have a branch in Penang. COBRATS is now able to field competitive teams in every age group. Participants of our programmes include representatives from all races and also non Malaysians.

The growth of this programme has been phenomenal. We also envisage it growing even more. Apart from Penang we are looking at branches in Sarawak and other states. However, once again limited resources is a major concern.

To ensure the continued and sustainable roll out of this program we are inviting leading organisations  to attend a COBRA CEO Roundtable. We wish to share the present status of our programme and also our vision. We hope this will enable CEOs to have a better understanding of the opportunities that we have created at multitier levels. We also are convinced that this will be a suitable activity for  organisations to include in their CSR programmes. It can also be used to completion their marketing and promotional activities.

CEOs allocate resources that will bring the greatest benefit to their companies. Our program will be able to offer new dimensions to your community related commitments.

We respectfully request that yourself or a senior member of your team attend the CEO Roundtable.

The program for the session is as follows:
