Sapura Energy recently collaborated with the Department of Fisheries of Perak to promote the conservation of sea turtles through the Save the Turtles programme.

Held at the Turtle Conservation and Information Centre (TCIC) in Lumut, about 40 of Sapura Energy’s volunteers relocated 100 fresh sea turtle eggs to a new hatchery nest named “Sapura Energy” and released over 40 baby turtles into the sea.

Sapura Energy organised ‘Save the Turtles’ programme to promote greater awareness on the conservation of sea turtles and marine environment with the Department of Fisheries in Segari, Lumut, Perak.

The programme aims at stabilizing and increasing the sea turtle population, which includes releasing baby turtles into the sea and volunteers taking part in “gotong-royong” activities at the Turtle Conservation and Information Centre such as cleaning up the pool, beach and surrounding areas.

Sapura Energy volunteers took part in the Save the Turtles programme last year in November.
