About the Chef
Chef Ashar Daud, from The 39 Restaurant has been passionate about food for most of his life – a fascination for cooking gained from his late mother. In fact, he used to catch chickens when he was young and assist with the cooking of Chicken Perchik.
Chef Ashar has joined Vivatel Hotel recently, and has since worked in some of the most prestigious hotels in Malaysia, including the Parkroyal, Legend, Regent, Westin and Mandarin Oriental, with even a stint in Brunei at the Sheraton Imperial. He mostly focuses on local Malay cuisine because of the rich tastes and its own flavourful identity. Chef Ashar cleverly amalgamates local cuisine with the style and flair of western dishes, and by incorporating small portions and elegant presentation, his unique FUSION style has patrons coming back for more.
